Recommended reading material: " Finding Sanctuary" Monastic Steps for Everyday Life. An inspirational and practical book by Abbot Christopher Jamison, from Worth Abbey.
"A year with Deitrich Bonhoeffer", daily meditations from his letters, writings and sermons.
"Impressions of Jesus" by Father Denis McBride. "A refreshing and enjoyable portrait of Jesus" a quote from Joseph Girzone [ author of Joshua] and I agree. The characters around Jesus become real people in this wonderful look at His life and friends.
"That They May Face the Rising Sun" by John McGahern. Life in a small community in rural Ireland.
"To School Through the Fields" by Alice Taylor. I read this book many years ago and agree with a quote at the time from the Irish Post: "This is the story of ordinary people and ordinary occurrences. But they were a fine people and there was a gentle nobility about the occurrences which shaped their lives".
