Finding God in the everyday is something I really try to do. When I was choosing a picture for my blog I thought the Supermarket shot was perfect, for this is the first place I head to most mornings. It's only a five minute walk and being a "morning person" I feel so alive and thankful to God for another day.
I'm usually up and about two hours before I set off giving me time for my first coffee of the day, then I listen to "Pray as You Go" with time for reflection.
I find the staff at Asda very friendly as we share our Good Mornings. Take this morning for instance. One minute past eight, and the assistants all busy packing shelves but never too busy to greet the customers with a friendly smile. They really are a great bunch, well done Asda, Cumnock.
An hour and a half later and I was on my way to morning Mass at St Sophia's in Galston, thanks to Michael. Michael and Joyce are good friends of mine and like me, Michael has caught the bug of visiting other churches from time to time.
St Sophia's, what great pleasure I felt as I looked at familiar faces, in a way it was like being home. Father Pat welcomed the small group of parishioners and then said that at this morning's Mass we would be given the chance of being anointed and just after the Bidding Prayers we all approached the altar slowly to receive this special blessing. A beautiful Mass, Father Pat, thank you.
