Yesterday morning me met and prayed around a centre piece display created by Maureen. It showed a desert theme incorporating the way to the Cross and we are going to keep this for all the weeks of Lent.
Bill led us in prayer with a beautiful prayer and Fran led us to a stillness before we all took turns to read, "Praying with a Listening Heart" from our booklet "Growing into Silence".
We went to our quiet place and read from John 21:1-19 and using the method known as Lectio Divina. The passages which spoke to me were verses 15-19. If Jesus had asked me what he asked Peter, "Do you love me", I would be like peter and say "Of course I love you" and as I read, "Feed my lambs", then "Tend my sheep", then" Feed my sheep". I applied this to myself and I thought, well I did feed my lambs as I thought to my own children but feeding them with food is one thing but what about feeding them with love, kindness and gentleness. In order to do that I have to pray that I will always be filled with love and be kind and gentle before I can tend and feed my family and friends and all mankind.
Jesus, I pray today to see you in everyone I meet and help me to be the person you want me to be.
Today I'm writing this for Rita, loving, kind and gentle Rita. She has been trying to follow the prayers at home by reading the booklet at every step we take but she is still very tired, so rest dear Rita and let Jesus hold you in his arms till you feel strong again.
Safe in the arms of Jesus.
