In preparation for our Lenten journey, Fran gave us copies of Luke chapter 19, verses 1-10. For next week's prayer morning we will spend some time each day reading and reflecting on this.
We will pray about it for 20 mins then reflect on what happened when we were praying for 10 minutes and 7 questions are printed to help us.
This is when we can use a journal and note down our reactions and answers to the questions
1 Who were you in the story....one of the crowd....one of the children....Jesus.... Zacchaeus....yourself.... or who?
2 Where were you....with other people.... on your own.....with Zacchaeus....with Jesus....watching from a distance.... close by....or what?
3 What happened as you prayed? Did you or anyone else move, or speak?
4 Did any part of the story "touch" you? what reactions/feelings did you have?
5 As you reflect on your feelings, what do you think lies beneath them?
6 What did these feelings evoke in you? did they lead you to do or say anything?
7 As you reflect back on my prayer, did you learn anything about God or about yourself? What did you learn?
Each Tuesday morning during Lent we will use this type of praying as our Lenten Retreat. Imaginative Contemplation is a wonderful way to pray when the scriptures come alive to us and we are there in the scene. Over the coming weeks we will be praying with the different forms of praying from the booklet "Growing into Silence"
Thank you again Lord for all you do for me and today I ask you to listen to the quiet prayers in my heart. Thy will be done.
